The Mother Confessor

Description

I am re-reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and felt incredibly inspired to draw Kahlan Amnell, The Mother Confessor, whilst in the Con Dar. Yes. Mhmm. C_C. Not from the TV show. From what I see in my head when I read the books. Mhmm. I drew the bolts based on the book description C_C.

Did some adjusting of colors and tones in Photoshop because my scanner is a silly goof.

Thanks for looking.

Overall I think this is a nice piece. Critiques are tough because they tend to be biased to the style preferences of those delivering it.
Disclaimer aside:
I really like the hand - hands at that positiion can be very tricky and you did a great job with it here. The knuckles and fingers look like a very natural, with some fingers taught and others more relaxed. This also seems to help with a more organic appearance.
The eyes and eyebrows also look very good, the color work is good and the shading of the eye brows give a glimpse of individual hairs, as well as framing a unique looking facial structure.
I like the lively appearance of the hair - it isn't just sitting there, it has been caught in motion and you can tell. The angle of the face is also one that can be a bit challening, though you pretty much nailed that. Very good work here.
In examining and studying the face, the eyes appear to be a bit large if compared with a "golden ratio" kind of thinking; which really isn't a bad thing because human genes don't follow perfect proportions and what is presented here is well withing the natural boudaries of human facial structure.
Have you ever considered using any tools to blend your shading? (stumps / tortillions) They certainly aren't neccessary but I know they greatly improved my art when I started using them about a year ago.
A note regarding my star ratings: I am not familiar with the origins of this character at all so I feel I do not have the proper frame of reference to be accurate on those.
Very good work, keep it up!
