Star Child

___just finished a bit ago, probably 2 1/2 hours total if I wasn't continually interrupted. Used 4b/6b graphite sticks and 3b pencils. I don't really like to blend and it's not because I don't know how, I just really like the texture of pencil on paper

This is Paul Stanley from KISS if you don't know/recognize him (and if that's the case, you are sheltered imo) When I'm done with all the portraits I am going to attempt to put them together, we'll see how that turns out @.@

I am going to be doing all the KISS members because I enjoy their unique faces... and for another reason. When I was little I used to bother my mom allll the time, reason being because she is a great artist. Unfortunately, two kids and a not so wonderful set of circumstances made going to college for art not an option. Anyway, amongst her many drawings and portraits were some of her favorite singers or band members and I remember KISS being in there. For me, being so young, that was the beginning of my uphill struggle with art and expression.

I say up hill because I find it difficult at times to accept myself and my art as a unified form. And I still lack a lot of confidence but my mom has been my inspiration since I was really small... Sorry to had bothered you so much mom but I really wanted to just watch you draw

I had to scan this in halves because my scanner is pretty home standard sized and the paper is about A3 sized. So, of course, each half scanned at different shades and I also had to piece the halves together. Once that was done I used the bandaid tool in Photoshop to fix the horrible tone line across the hair and adjusted the brightness and levels.

The image looks pretty close to what it looks like on paper now /phew! I was a bit worried looking at the initial scans D: and I really didn't want to have to tear it out. Some day when I get a good camera I'll just take a picture of it... ok I'm done rambling.
